COVID-19 State & Regional Community Toolkit
This situation is fluid and information is changing by the minute and hour. Please call businesses directly for updates, questions & concerns.
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce staff and Board of Directors are dedicated to serving our members and the community in the Greater Mystic region. In light of the recent events related to COVID-19, we are in close contact with state and local authorities to keep the interests of our members and the greater business community in the forefront. We are compiling resources daily for our businesses and nonprofits here.
As part of the effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, chamber events are postponed or cancelled until further notice, and our office & Welcome Center are closed to the public. Keep an eye on our events calendar and this website for updated information, and do not hesitate to contact us via email or Facebook with questions or updates.

Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center: At this time we continue to keep our trails open to the public. We feel it is important to get out and get some sunshine to feel the restorative power of nature, especially during this difficult time. Enjoy our outdoor resources while keeping your distance and taking all the virus precautions. Please respect personal distances when out on the trails and if you are feeling ill at all please stay home. Our buildings at the Nature Center and Coogan Farm remain closed until further notice. Click here to see our trail map.
HOPE for the Warriors: HOPE’s virtual services are still open and we continue to serve veterans and military families around the world. We are a fully remote team and can help with Zoom links, questions about productivity and process. Our social workers have great (free!) resources for family resiliency and our fundraising team is on stand-by to help craft messaging to donor and corporate partners. Please let us know how we can help!
Mystic & Noank Library: Visit our Not-So-Little Free Library outside the Library doors 24/7 for free books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs, puzzles, and coloring books. Take what you would like, don't return the item(s) to us, and please don't add any of your own items. We will restock daily! Downloadable eBooks, audiobooks and magazines are available 24/7 from our OverDrive and RBDigital services. Our streaming movie service, Kanopy, is open 24/7 as well.
Safe Futures: Our 24/7 crisis hotlines will remain fully operational and staffed. Hotline numbers: 860-701-6001 and 860-701-6000 Our emergency shelter Genesis House will remain open and staffed to protect clients who have left abusive relationships. We are temporarily suspending all support groups and programs that serve those not in immediate crisis. Our headquarters at 16 Jay Street New London will remain open and our Norwich office will operate out of 16 Jay Street as well, but we will restrict walk-in clients to those in IMMEDIATE crisis and refer all others to engage with their advocates by telephone - only if not in immediate danger. Our team will triage clients to assess their needs and continue to see crisis clients. We are also instructing our Direct Services Team to conduct ongoing one-on-one counseling sessions by telephone when possible.
Stonington Free Library: While the Library is closed to the public we will be uploading staff reading books to our YouTube channel and social media. Mrs. Frey will be reading chapters of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone every night at 7 pm. Access to our ONLINE services is available 24/7 from home, such as downloadable ebooks and audiobooks, research databases, our YouTube channel and more.
Yellow Farmhouse Education Center: Every weekday at 11am, the Yellow Farmhouse is going live on facebook (@yellowfarmct) with a cooking activity or craft using supplies easily found in most pantries and homes. We have had a good response so far and parents are letting us know that having the regular time to check in is really helpful. We are also planning to start a reading group geared at teachers but open to anyone and also potentially a virtual teacher PD.
