Internship Overview: Our internship program provides opportunities for college students to hone their skills in a professional atmosphere, while building lasting relationships that could lead to future employment. Interns gain exposure to our members, services, as well as the company's organizational structure and business practices. Internships may be geared toward specific interests or class credit requirements. Our program enables students to develop marketable skills in a real life professional environment, network with professionals in their fields of interest and explore career options.
We are seeking interns to work 15-40 hours per week with our staff, at our Mystic, CT office. As part of a small and busy team, this is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in business, marketing, public relations, graphic design, web site design, hospitality, tourism, event planning, and technology. An internship at the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is intended to provide a true learning experience for the student along with the opportunity to observe professionals in a business environment.
Time Commitment: Time is flexible, but we would prefer 15-40 hours per week for at least 3 months. Our office hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is an unpaid internship, however the intern could receive college credit through their institution.
Responsibilities: Internships may be geared toward specific interests or class credit requirements. Intern(s) would work with the various staff in the office on ongoing projects and/or special events, geared toward specific interests or class credit requirements. The intern will also assist the organization team with day-to-day duties, such as answering phones and helping with tourism inquiries.
Qualifications: We are seeking an inspired, energetic and enthusiastic student with strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with media, organizations and the public. Intern should also have strong PC Skills MS Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook preferred, graphic design and/or web design experience helpful, but not necessary; excellent customer service skills; superior time management skills; and the ability to work independently and on a team.
