Mystic Seaport Offers Free Admission for Teachers
Offer valid during Educators' Weekend, April 10-11
Educators and their families – up to four people total – will be admitted for free into Mystic Seaport during Educators’ Weekend April 10-11.
Teachers, administrators and support staff are welcome. Free admission will be granted upon presentation of a school or union ID card or a copy of school letterhead.
The eighth annual event is part of the Museum’s continuous efforts to help teachers reach their classroom goals, as well as provide an opportunity for educators to strengthen the partnership between schools and museums. An Education Information Center will be open throughout the weekend offering details about the Museum’s programs, tours and hands-on experiences that are available for field trips, outreach and group visits.
“Education is essential to the Museum’s mission of creating a broad, public understanding of the relationship between America and the Sea,” said Mystic Seaport President Steve White. “We greatly appreciate the work educators do every day and this is our way of saying thank you.”
Special offerings include 60-minute samplers of the Museum’s science-based Force and Motion tour and Whaling tour, hands-on print and ropemaking activities, 19th-century games on the Village Green and the opportunity to learn about life in 1876 with a costumed Mystic Seaport roleplayer. Additionally, the Treworgy Planetarium will host the seasonal program, “Spring Stars and the Marnier” daily at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
